Marketing and Events Coordinator

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the Welsh Seafood Sector and for Menter a Busnes - Wales’ leading economic development company.


Welsh Seafood Market Development Project (3 days)

The Welsh Seafood Market Development Project is an initiative developed in partnership between Menter a Busnes and Seafish and is funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and Welsh Government until October 2021. The project aims to develop the market for Welsh Seafood domestically and internationally, along with assisting seafood businesses to define a clear seafood brand, understand current market needs, increase marketing expertise within the sector and encourage vessels to attain RFS (Responsible Fishing Scheme) standard. The Welsh Seafood Market Development Project will offer support through the following three strands:


  • Direct Marketing
  • Marketing Support
  • Seafood Festivals and Events


Menter a Busnes – Central / Corporate Marketing (2 days)

This is an exciting opportunity to manage various communication campaigns and to build our web, media and social media presence. We are looking to build on existing promotional activities and to reach new audiences, ensuring we are maximising opportunities and building the company’s brand. These will include:


  • Working with the central team to create and deliver campaigns
  • Manage the company’s website, social media and PR activities; utilising both internal staff and external contractors to help us achieve our goals
  • Co-ordinate events
  • Monitor, evaluate and create progress reports       


Aim of the Role

  • Support and assist the Seafood Development Managers to promote the project’s work and to arrange events for the seafood industry in Wales, by taking responsibility for the coordination of the administrative work of the team
  • Administer the Welsh Seafood Festival and Events Fund by promoting festival funding, managing applications and collating evidence with guidance from the Project Manager
  • Support the central team in co-ordinating and executing corporate communications, ensuring that campaigns are delivered and targets are met
  • Build Menter a Busnes’ brand and reaching existing and new target audiences   


Main Responsibilities

  • Lead on the promotion and administration of the Welsh Seafood Festival Fund
  • Website management and day to day running of Menter a Busnes website, including company campaigns such as MAB 30
  • Collate and interpret web analytics
  • Monitor, schedule and update social media for Menter a Busnes and Seafood Market Development Project– Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, etc
  • Co-ordinate project and company mail outs – email and postal
  • Assist the team to implement a portfolio of events and exhibitions to the highest standard possible, both regionally and nationally
  • Coordinate the work of subcontractors to provide events services on behalf of the programme
  • Communication strategy planning with direction for Menter a Busnes and the Seafood Market Development Project
  • Work closely with the Seafood Development Managers to design, organise and coordinate and promote a programme of high-profile events pan Wales
  • Ensure that events registration and attendance at events are recorded in detail in line with the project’s requirements
  • Analyse, coordinate and summarise events information, evaluating outcomes against targets and providing the relevant information as required to the Development Manager and Project Manager
  • Manage project marketing materials, including ordering and delivery; liaising with external and internal graphic designers, translators and printers
  • Ensure that standards are met in terms of customer service, quality, equality and diversity, health and safety and biodiversity
  • Accept other reasonable duties and responsibilities as required
  • Represent Menter a Busnes as and when necessary


Skills and Experience


  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, and/or demonstrable work
  • experience in a relevant field
  • Experience of organising and booking events – venues, refreshments, equipment, etc
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Able to think creatively
  • Able to deal with requests and enquiries quickly and in a timely manner
  • Excellent bilingual (Welsh/English) skills, both written and oral
  • Able to input data accurately and to store data in line with relevant data protection legislation
  • Able to carry on with own work, as well as being a part of a team
  • Able to be proactive and to drive things forward efficiently
  • Excellent social media skills - Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Hootsuite etc
  • Web skills with knowledge of back office systems and web management
  • IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, e-mail and the Internet
  • Full driving licence and use of a car
  • Available to work evenings and weekends when necessary, with occasional overnight stays



  • CIM qualification
  • Knowledge of Menter a Busnes
  • An understanding or experience of the seafood sector in Wales
