North Wales farmers group, Ffermydd Teuluol, has taken control of the food chain from farm to plate with the launch its PGI Welsh Lamb ready meals.   Ffermydd Teuluol unveiled its quick and easy to cook dishes at the Cywain stand at the Royal Welsh Show.   Originally the eight strong group of sheep and beef farmers came together in a bid to understand more about retailing PGI Welsh Lamb, with the aim of boosting market prospects for their meat.   With help from Farming Connect’s Agrisgôp programme and marketing guidance from Cywain they undertook research into the retail sector, and also met with retailers and

No longer a hobby but a full-time business Marion has developed her range of honey and beeswax products, along with an innovative new product - Honey Vinegar - which was launched with Cywain’s help at the Royal Welsh Show. Cardiff scotch egg producer, Great Eggspectations, has become a snack-time favourite around Wales’ capital, and with Cywain’s help is rapidly ‘eggspanding’.   Kevin Patrick’s culinary aspirations only recently became a reality, but already his handmade scotch eggs are a hit in local delis, bakeries, and pubs, as well as being available at farmers’ markets in Cardiff.   Rugby fans might also recognise him too, as his scotch eggs go down a treat with fans who buy them at Cardiff Blues home games.   All the ingredients are locally sourced and Welsh. When travelling abroad most people will taste something they love but can’t buy at home, but for barbecue sauce producer, Huw Bryant, the pursuit of replicating his favourite sauce has become a business – Brybeque.   While living in America as an exchange student Huw fell in love with the US style of barbecue sauce. Bringing a touch of the Mediterranean to Wales is ewe’s milk cheese producer, Defaid Dolwerdd, who with Cywain’s help launched a range of Halloumi-style cheese.   Nick and Wendy Holtham keep a flock of 120 Friesland milking ewes at their farm near Crymych in Pembrokeshire.
