Higher bar for public sector tenders giving reputable Welsh contractors a ‘rude wake-up call’   Businesses across all sizes and sectors in Wales are increasingly finding that a lack of time to fill out tenders is impeding operations.   And the advent of much higher customer expectations among public sector bodies of late has meant that a number of large, professional, organisations have lost contracts and had a ‘rude wake-up call’.   These are among findings of business services provider Mabis, from across the 120 clients it has signed up since launching a tendering and HR service in January 2016.   The survey also identified that insufficient attention

Entrepreneurial outlook and youth among attributes of farming businesses most likely to succeed post-Brexit Farming families with an entrepreneurial attitude are going to be most successful at dealing with the upheavals expected to be brought about by Brexit, according to new research.   Conducted by economic development company Menter a Busnes, the research also reveals that new entrants and young people are more likely to accept new ideas and embrace change.  A strong ‘can do’ attitude came through in the research, which reviewed engagement with the 15,494 individuals currently signed up to the Farming Connect programme run by Menter a Busnes.    An independent company, Menter

What are European Innovation Partnerships (EIP’s)?   EIPs are a Europe-wide initiative to encourage and develop innovation within farm and forest enterprises. Menter a Busnes has been working with Welsh Government to deliver the scheme in Wales over the past 18 months and we have been working with approximately 20 potential groups to develop their ideas into a project structure that could bring real benefit to their businesses.   Welsh Government has recently undertaken a review of this process and we are pleased to report that earlier in July they have awarded the management and delivery of the entire scheme to Menter a Busnes.

Menter Moch Cymru & Wales Pig finishing Winner Announced   In a bid to encourage the next generation of pig keepers and to get farmers thinking about pigs as a viable diversification option, four Wales YFC members have been awarded five weaners each as a stepping stone into the pig industry.   This new initiative is a joint venture between Wales YFC and Menter Moch Cymru, the new RDP funded project that aims to develop the pig sector in Wales.   The winners were announced on Tuesday, 25th July at the YFC chairman’s reception at the RWAS Royal Welsh Show and are Kim Barnett from the
